"The stone which the builders rejected has become the chief stone of the corner. Whoever falls on that stone will be broken, but on whomever it falls, it will grind him to powder" Luke 20:1`7-18. When I began reading the bible years ago, I began to reralize by observing nature you could understand things pertaining to God. The most obvious example is the sun in the sky.It gives light and life to our natural world. With out it the earth would be a cold chunk of ice. In John 9;5 and John 12;46, Jesus tells us that He is the Light of the world. Of course, the world He is refering to is the Kingdom of God. He gives light and life to our human spirit. I also observe that all life, wether plant, animal, or human comes from a seed. In my back yard are many oak trees. Through out the summer we go about pulling out of the ground many 3 to 4 inch oak trees. At the base of every tree is attached an acorn, on which, the hard exterior of the acorn has been split or cracked, and out of it grows the roots of the oak tree. Every time I see this, I am reminded of the above scripture, Luke 20;17-18. People are similar to an acorn, in that, many of us have a hard exterior. This hard exterior, or what I refer to as " self " can be composed of  stubborness, pride, and unbelief, that refuses to come to Christ. This is what Luke 20;17-18 is talking about. People must understand that we all need to fall on the stone, Jesus, and allow their hard exterior, self, to break, so that Jesus can come into us. Only then can we grow into a strong fruit bearing tree.                                                 After Jesus rose from the dead, He appeared for the first time in the upper room. Thomas, one of His disciples, was not present. Having been told by the others that Jesus had appeared to them, Thomes refused to believe. However, when Jesus appeared the second time, in the upper room, Thomas was present. When Jesus called out to Thomas, Thomas immeaditely fell down and said , my Lord and my God. You see this is exactly when Thomas fell on the Stone, Jesus, and was broken. All of his stubborness, pride, and unbelief left him. Thomas was no longer an unbeliever. Don"t let stubborness, pride and unbelief stand in your way of coming to Jesus.
